Class Descriptions:
Asana Yoga 1.5 - Asana = Posture - In this 90 minute class you will warm up with a vigorous Sun Salutation sequence, moving into an Asana sequence based in the Mysore/Ashtanga style. Each week there will be a pose of the week that we will break down in class and you will be encouraged to practice as a part of your personal yoga practice. Class is set to upbeat, energizing, contemporary music.
Chiogalates - A modern routine set to music, a fusion of the disciplines of Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates. While it’s major principal is on movement awareness it is a fun vibrant high energy routine with elements of each of the three disciplines making up the hour long class. Recommended, but not limited to those with some experience in Yoga. Options and modifications are offered throughout the class to cater to beginners.
Gentle Stretch/Restorative - The class format follows flowing, non-strenuous yogic movements designed to gently stretch skeletal muscles and deeply relax the nervous system by focusing on one’s breath. Bolsters and blankets are utilized for supported poses aimed at restoring energy levels and releasing and opening one’s mind and body.
Guided Meditation - This class is an introduction to meditation and is designed to help ease the novice into the discipline, the goal is to demystify meditation and introduce the benefits of practicing while engaged in daily life. Dependent upon your present state of health you may choose to meditate while sitting in a chair, on the floor, or lying down on the floor in semi supine position. During this class you will learn how to stay present within yourself and maintain a calm and peaceful attitude regardless of what is going on around you.
Hot Yoga 2 - Warrior Yoga class! A flow based class designed to make you sweat while building on strength and flexibility. Recommended for those with experience in yoga and free of injuries and illness. Come prepared for the challenge!
Kids Yoga – Students will gain an understanding of how the elements of yoga can help them find peace, balance, and physical and inner strength in their life. Students practice sun salutations, fun yoga flows, and short meditation exercises that can focus, recharge, and/or calm the mind, body & spirit. Breathing techniques that will energize, calm, and/or balance the mind are also learned. Classes will have a theme each week allowing students to relate to their own lives topics like: focus, awareness, inner strength, and others.
Kundalini Yoga -This yoga activates the glandular and nervous systems to work together in effort to de-stress, detoxify, and balance the body. Kundalini utilizes breath work, mantras, and various exercises to leave you feeling energized and centered. This yoga is great for all ages, experience levels, and does not require a great deal of flexibility.
Meditative Yoga -This class emphasizes the role Breath plays in yoga practice. Slow movement with longer holds in each posture, the breath is used to create mindfulness and generate 'churning' with the aim of releasing deeply entrenched physical and emotional tension patterns that can be responsible for habitual behaviors. A class that tunes into and heightens one's sense of self.
Pilates - The Pilates Method relies on strengthening core postural muscles and developing body alignment in order for the whole body (respiratory, lymphatic and circulatory systems) to operate in an effective and efficient manner. The Pilates Method focuses on enhancing body awareness and develops your kinesthetic sense. This class is suitable for all levels from beginners through to the advanced.
QiGong/Tai-Chi – QiGong is a great breathing and movement exercise for improving overall health and an excellent rehab exercise therapy for people to restore their health. Class will include exercises for regulating the breathing, opening the chest, arm and shoulder stretches, as well as total body-core movement, the class will close with breathe work for calming both the mind and body.
Tai Chi - Movement in Meditation the focus of this class is on breath and through movement and breath creating a sense of calm, heightened awareness of one’s body in space and a deep seated sense of well being. The classic Tai Chi movements are flowing and circular and work on the principles of Yin and Yang, the opposite and opposing forces that exist in harmony with each other enabling a sense of balance both in one’s body and mind.
Tai Chi Fan- Classical Tai chi movements enhanced with the use of a Tai Chi Fan focus on breath work in combination with the flowing circular movements of Tai Chi to achieve that sense of calm that is essential to living in optimal good health.
VinyasaFlow - The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement”, in this class we will move from one pose to the next riding the breath, allowing your body to build internal heat and energy, raising your heart rate and allowing your body to burn calories while lengthening and strengthening your muscles. Beginner and advanced options will be given.
Yoga 1 - Uses classical yoga postures to stretch and strengthen the body. Postures are taught and led in a soothing meditative manner with holding periods aimed at generating heat and encouraging the body to release deep seated tension. Suitable (ideally) for people new to yoga and free from injury or illness as well as the yogi who enjoys the meditative aspects of yoga practice.
YOGALATES - A fusion of the ancient discipline of yoga with the modern pilates techniques, the exercises mix both disciplines to develop core strength, help tone muscles, increase flexibility, and reduce stress.
Yoga Basics – Perfect for the beginner yogi instructor introduces yogic breathing breathing and teaches basic yoga poses.
Zumba - ZUMBA® Fitness was created in the mid-90’s by Colombian native Alberto “Beto” Perez, a celebrity fitness trainer and choreographer for International pop superstars. Inspired by the traditional cumbia, salsa, samba and merengue music he grew up with, Beto paired his favorite pulsating Latin rhythms with the red-hot international dance steps his clients loved and ZUMBA® Fitness (Spanish slang for “to move fast and have fun”) was born!
