Class Descriptions:
Chiogalates - A modern routine set to music, a fusion of the disciplines of Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates. While it’s major principal is on movement awareness it is a fun vibrant high energy routine with elements of each of the three disciplines making up the hour long class. Recommended, but not limited to those with some experience in Yoga. Options and modifications are offered throughout the class to cater to beginners.
Gentle Stretch/Restorative - The class format follows flowing, non-strenuous yogic movements designed to gently stretch skeletal muscles and deeply relax the nervous system by focusing on one’s breath. Bolsters and blankets are utilized for supported poses aimed at restoring energy levels and releasing and opening one’s mind and body.
Guided Meditation - This class is an introduction to meditation and is designed to help ease the novice into the discipline, during this class you will learn how to stay present within yourself and maintain a calm and peaceful attitude regardless of what is going on around you.
Hot Yoga 2 - Warrior Yoga class! A flow based class designed to make you sweat while building on strength and flexibility. Recommended for those with experience in yoga and free of injuries and illness. Come prepared for the challenge!
Kundalini Yoga -This yoga activates the glandular and nervous systems to work together in effort to de-stress, detoxify, and balance the body. Kundalini utilizes breath work, mantras, and various exercises to leave you feeling energized and centered. This yoga is great for all ages, experience levels, and does not require a great deal of flexibility.
Meditative Yoga -This class emphasizes the role Breath plays in yoga practice. Slow movement with longer holds in each posture, the breath is used to create mindfulness and generate 'churning' with the aim of releasing deeply entrenched physical and emotional tension patterns that can be responsible for habitual behaviors. A class that tunes into and heightens one's sense of self.
Pilates - The Pilates Method relies on strengthening core postural muscles and developing body alignment in order for the whole body (respiratory, lymphatic and circulatory systems) to operate in an effective and efficient manner. The Pilates Method focuses on enhancing body awareness and develops your kinesthetic sense. This class is suitable for all levels from beginners through to the advanced.
Power Yoga 1.5 - In this 90 minute class you will warm up with a vigorous Sun Salutation sequence, moving into an Asana sequence based in the Mysore/Ashtanga style. Each week there will be a pose of the week that we will break down in class and you will be encouraged to practice as a part of your personal yoga practice. Students will find their practice taking on a new quality as the week’s progress. Class is set to upbeat, energizing, contemporary music.
QiGong\TaiChi – Chinese meditative practice which uses slow graceful movement and controlled breathing techniques to promote the circulation of Qi (life energy) within the human body, and enhance a practitioner’s overall health. QiGong is also an excellent rehab exercise therapy for people who are recovering from illness or surgery.
Tai Chi - Movement in Meditation the focus of this class is on breath and through movement and breath creating a sense of calm, heightened awareness of one’s body in space and a deep seated sense of well being. The classic Tai Chi movements are flowing and circular and work on the principles of Yin and Yang, the opposite and opposing forces that exist in harmony with each other enabling a sense of balance both in one’s body and mind.
Tai Chi Fan- Classical Tai chi movements enhanced with the use of a Tai Chi Fan focus on breath work in combination with the flowing circular movements of Tai Chi to achieve that sense of calm that is essential to living in optimal good health.
VinyasaFlow Yoga with Child Care Coop - The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement”, in this class we will move from one pose to the next riding the breath, allowing your body to build internal heat and energy, raising your heart rate and allowing your body to burn calories while lengthening and strengthening your muscles.
